A brownstone renovation in Brooklyn that balances the celebration of existing historic details with an infusion of modern amenities.
The upper floors of this Park Slope residence had many existing plasterwork details that were kept in tact to celebrate the history of the home; refinishing and replacing elements on these floors was strategic and understated in order to let the existing details shine.
The garden level of the home connects to a rear yard, and was updated and modernized to serve the needs of the owner's growing family, with additional bathroom, bedroom and kitchen spaces added.
The result is a fine balance between old and new that brings more light and functionality into the space, while maintaining a reverence for its historic character.
